Kof Kof... The Bachmann / Liliput / LGB bash...

Well spending time away from the modelling work bench does mean I have time to scheme and plan future projects. Some of you might remember me posting up about this one earlier in the summer, taking No.2 and bashing her with a second hand LGB Kof cab into something with a family resemblance to the O&K diesels on the Zillertalbahn.

I find sketching out my ideas a way or ordering my thoughts, refining the design and sorting out a build plan. Working up the little details before you start makes it easier to incorporate them from the beginning.

I know how the Bachmann designed Liliput diesel comes apart, the only unknown is how much space there is in the bonnet when I build a new reduced height version!

Unlucky for some...

Well lazy afternoons and a note book often has me scheming for plans, projects and the like. So noting down my stock list, working out details for my railbus bash currently in hand and my mind wanders to a possible thirteenth locomotive.

The Bosnian narrow gauge has been a recent inspiration for the EJ&KLR and that system had a lot of Porter and Davenport built 0-8-0 tender engines built after WW2 under the auspices of UNRRA. Something that large would be out of keeping for my line, but browsing the Bachmann website I started pondering if the Lyn 2-4-2t Baldwin could be lightly bashed to represent something similar. I think with centre buffing gear, transfers and etched cab side plates it would be more than passable. We'll see if number 13 turns out be lucky for us or not...

Faur works plates...

Today I received the works plates for the Blauturm (http://www.blauturm.de) Lxd2 kit from Steve at Narrow Planet (http://www.narrowplanet.co.uk). Steve kindly re-drew these after a mix up on dimensions and they were worth the wait, they look absolutely superb and I can't wait to get them fitted. They're about 2cm across, so not tiny, but the legibility is absolutely fantastic!
