2-axle coach repaints...
With the Kof conversion completed my attention turned to the pair of 2-axle coaches I have been reworking a second time. There were in a red promotional livery originally with flat roofs and yellow window frames. They are now olive green, oak window frames and now ended roofs. They'll be finished in an austere 1950s era EJ&KLR livery with small markings. They look great already behind Elly's Stainz...

Kof boxed off...
Well apart from a few detail parts and a touch of weathering around the exhaust at some point the LGB Liliput Kof / Dieselok V3 bash is finished. The body is attached to the chassis (I cheated and glued it) and the box is modified so that it fits snugly for transport.

Plates fitted...
I've re-assembled the diesel shunter VL2 this evening, after painting the cab details. I also fitted a fire extinguisher but annoyingly you can hardly see this! The LED lighting is also fitted, but I need to solder jump wires to connect up the rear ones. I hope to give it a test tomorrow, and if all goes well then I will attach the body to the chassis!

Satin shine...
Well it's a glorious evening so I've cracked on with the Stainz and diesel so both are now satin finished!
I used Humbrol enamel varnish applied by airbrush. I blended it in on the Stainz with the existing finish.

Stainz No.1 renumbered...
Very early in the history of the EJ&KLR I added Deutsche Reichsbahn markings and numbers to the Big Train plain black Stainz.
However with the march of time I'm slowly working through the stock and bringing it all in line. Therefore Elly and I have renumbered her Stainz.
She helped me fabricate a front number plate, and she used my airbrush to apply gloss black paint to the old transfers. Today she helped apply the new transfers and is very happy with her 'Frank' as he's called.
Here you can see the EJ&KLR no.1 and no.2 posed together, the first two items if our garden railway journey. It also shows just how titchy the diesel is!

Kof detail painting...
A minor update tonight as I have painted the vertical handrails and the bonnet door handles, and applied a Matt red undercoat to the red parts. Unfortunately I am out of satin red to finish these off at the moment.
I've also painted the number plate for the bonnet yellow, so I can paint the raised bits black tomorrow.

Kof transferred up...
Well yes it might have been more sensible to do the detail painting, then the transfers but hey ho I was impatient, so tonight out came the Microsol and tweezers and the custom transfers I had made a few months ago were applied! I think it's looking great and can't wait to finish it off now!

Kof striped and ready for transfers...
Today Elly and I had a day off and after a bike ride and lovely picnic we came home to do some modelling. Elly used the airbrush for the first time in painting some gloss black on her Stainz so we can renumber it, she was amazing, a real knack as a five year old.
I also had a chance to spray the satin dark grey on the chassis and bonnet of my Kof project. We're getting there now! Detail painting and transfers next!

Faur in the sun...
It seems an age since trains ran properly on the EJ&KLR, but today the sun shone, the bitter shandy flowed and trains rolled round. Alex my 1 year old enjoyed eating the controller (Helmsman quality!) and running his green Stainz in between Daddy's Blauturm Lxd2.
